We couldn't do a blog about festive food and NOT feature some Christmassy cocktails...

Christmas Martini

Rich and warming, that first a sip of Nigella Lawsons 'Christmas Martini' gives you an instant Christmassy fireside glow.

Gin Fizz

Gin fizz is a member of the sours cocktail family (because it contains lemon juice). It will appeal to G&T lovers and anyone who likes a long, refreshing tipple. A classic fizz shouldn’t be served over ice, so make sure the ingredients are shaken with plenty of ice to keep them cold.

Swedish Christmas Glögg

Glögg is an essential part of Christmas all over Scandinavia. This is recipe was created by my sister-in-law Annika in her Gothenburg kitchen.

MB zinger

A refreshingly zingy cocktail to get you in the festive spirit. Leave out the brandy for a non-alcoholic version.

Christmas pudding vodka

Keep this delicious aperitif in the freezer for a refreshing - and surprising - Christmas drink.

Boulevardier

The boulevardier is simply a variation on the classic negroni. The champion spirit here is bourbon, alongside sweet red vermouth and Campari.

Eggnog

This deliciously creamy eggnog recipe is a little taste of Christmas history. George Washington, the first American president, even made his own eggnog, and is very clear about ageing it for a few days to let the flavour mellow.

French 75

A quick and easy guide to making the French 75 cocktail. This wonderfully refreshing classic combines gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and champagne.

Mulled wine with sloe gin

Find out how to make mulled wine for the festive season, brimming with Christmassy spice and perfect for parties. This recipe is spiked with an extra fruity hit of sloe gin.

Whisky cider hot toddy

This cross between mulled cider and a hot toddy is incredible on cold, winter's evenings with friends. It will certainly have everyone feeling festive and jolly.

Black velvet

Just when you thought it wasn’t possible to improve a Guinness, you discover the black velvet cocktail! Champagne and Guinness, who knew? Delicious.

White Russian

A quick and easy guide to making this indulgent vodka-based cocktail at home.
